A:Practice

An Ecological Organisational Development Tool for Cultural Institutions

KlimaKontor Basel, Switzerland, has partnered with The Forgotten Angle Theatre Collaborative (FATC, South Africa) in developing an organisation development tool which helps cultural institutions position themselves and evolve in the face of multiple interlocking ecological crises.

The tool integrates operational and organisational sustainability as well as various artistic and creative fields of action, such as the development of content, narratives and communication concepts, into an overarching strategy. This strategy can be adapted to the relevant situations, requirements and needs of the individual institutions. It also promotes the exchange of experience and resources between these institutions.

At the heart of the tool is the «A:Practice Matrix of Action». It facilitates the simultaneous implementation of various sustainability concepts without generating an additional economic burden. This makes it highly compatible with other common approaches to cultural change. A:Practice further focuses on ecological common-sense education, aimed both within the institutions and at their audience and political public
