FAIRSPEC<\/a> is dedicated to promoting ethical, fair, and sustainable working practices in the performing arts, with a particular focus on the independent scene. The initiative raises awareness, fosters connections, and provides knowledge by organizing events, workshops, and practice-oriented exchange formats \u2013 in collaboration with artists, researchers, other professionals, and partner institutions. Its goal is to collaboratively develop a broadly supported vision of equitable forms of collaboration and to make this vision practically effective in day-to-day artistic work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A central reference point is the FAIRSPEC Code<\/a>, which outlines core values and guidelines for respectful, transparent, and responsible collaboration. The Code is not viewed as a finalized set of rules but as a living instrument that evolves in dialogue with real working conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through formats such as the FAIRCHECK event series, FAIRSPEC creates spaces for in-depth reflection on selected topics from the Code, based on concrete work situations \u2013 such as communication culture, equality, resilience, or appreciation. These gatherings combine expert input, experience-sharing, and collective reflection. They not only serve to raise awareness but also to test the Code’s applicability in practice and to generate insights that can feed into its future revision and development. At the same time, they strengthen the growing network of independent performing arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this foundation and through continuous dialogue with its network, FAIRSPEC develops its next steps by addressing key questions: How can commitment be established? Which actors will support the initiative in the long term? How can the Code remain dynamic and effective? And how can the FAIRSPEC Charter be further developed to ensure its core values are naturally implemented and lived in everyday work practices?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
